Hotter than Hades, But Some Nice Fish Caught
9.30-10.6 2019
Man has it been hot. Mid nineties and no rain make for hot fishing days.
But....
I've actually caught some of the nicest fish of the year during this hot spell. The JT 95 thrown right on the bank has worked.
Here is a nice largemouth that won the big fish pot for the Bassin Fools tourney on Sept 30.

And Nancy caught a nice spot on a whopper popper painted by Sugartit Custom Lures.

Both fish were caught in about a foot of water.
And the water temp has been in the high eighties. Go figure!

Still trying for lips
8.8.2019
After being sick for quite awhile finally got out. And the Champion still starts!
Fished solo this morning from 6:45-11 AM.
Targeted largemouth the for about 3 hours in the back of Little River and Stamp Creek. Little River was 82 degree and 79 degrees in the back. Stamp Creek was 82 degrees.
I had two rods on my deck, one with a Spro Spittin’ Shad and the other rigged with a Zoom Trick Worm fished weightless.
Fished for about an hour in Little River with nothing to show for the effort. It just didn’t look “right”. Lots of bubbles coming out of the muddy bottom and just kind of a dead feeling to it.
Pulled the trolling motor and headed to Stamp Creek stopping at the wooden bridge and fishing the bank back from there.
Quickly started getting brim bites so at least it seemed to have some fish living there. After a couple of hours I had caught 2 13” largemouth on the trick worm. Lost a nice one on the Spro bait in a downed pine tree. The fish got tangled in the tree top and before I could get there it got off.
Decided to run down by the skimmer wall and see what was happening. I caught 3 spots on a Megabass Spark Shad swimbait. One non keeper and a 13” and 14” spot. Headed in to the cove by the skimmer wall to look for some drop shot fish, but didn’t see anything.
It was a very pleasant morning. I only saw 2 PWC’s and a pontoon boat. When I came back to the ramp I was still the only trailer there. Nice to have the lake back. Not a bad trip considering it is still August.

LM trip turns into Spot trip
7.30.19
Fished solo today. Changed up and targeted largemouth from 6-11 AM. I tied on a Spro Spittin Shad and a Zoom trick worm planning to stand on the trolling motor and fish down the bank between Crow Creek and Cedar Creek.
Started the morning waiting for the light to get on the water, so I wouldn’t throw the lures in a tree while it was dark. Hit a long point in the back of Crow Creek and caught one keeper spot and lost one nice spot at the boat on a Evergreen Justine 95. The skies lightened and I fished in the back of Crow Creek with the largemouth baits. Had two big explosions by the old docks in Crow Creek., but both came unbuttoned. As I was fishing the docks some fish started schooling behind me and I caught one 13” spot on a dropshot rigged with a small white fluke. Hit a couple more banks with the spittin shad but no action.
Headed north to fish the long cove south of the Falls Creek ramp and again had a largemouth flush my Spro, but again came up empty. Saw a fellow KA member there and watched an eagle eat his by catch that didn’t do to well digesting one of his spoons.
Went into Cedar Creek and fished the back of Little Cedar. Tried the trick worm, but I believe all the bites were brim hitting the worm.
Headed back down to a long cove by the Keowee Town Ramp and tried for largemouth in the back but no takers. Came out of the cove and decided to take a peak at a good fall spot fishing hole at the mouth of the creek cove. The spots started schooling there and I landed four fat spots on the Justine ranging is size from 14” to 16”.
Left them for another KA member and headed to the house at 11 AM.
The largemouth trip turned into a spot trip, but not bad for the end of July.
Really nice comfortable morning. Not a lot of leisure boat traffic.
Water temp was 83 in the creeks and 88 on the main lake. I saw a lot of shad in the back of the creeks in shallow water.
And yes the firing squad was in action again at 5:45 this morning at the nuke plant as mentioned yesterday by a KA member.Friday, July 19, 2019

Fishing Has Been Spotty for Me
February 14.
The last couple of trips have been a hunting trip.
Some small fish combined with a few decent fish once in a while.
Have found them schooling and can't make them bite.
Fished shallow yesterday with shad raps, jerk baits, ned rig and caught 8 but only one would measure.
When you do get a keeper they are nice and fat.
The water temp fell in this past week from 61 to 58 degrees.

Lake Keowee Big Girls Are Trying To Bite
Florida Trip to Lake Henderson and Pansofkee
2.26-3.1 2019
Went down to Crystal River and fished with my bro in the lakes around his home.
Never got on big fish, but it was a bed fishing and some lily pad flipping affair.
Lake Panasofkee was a bust as we only caught 3 fish there. But the water was beautiful.
Henderson was clear and pretty and the fish bit wacky worms, ned rig in the beds and flipped crawdads in the pads.
All I know was when I closed my eyes at night all I saw was clear water, hydrilla and fish swimming everywhere.
