Happy Birthday Redfish To Me!

2.19.16

Water Temp 55 Degrees.

A nice February day beckoned us out to wet our lines.

Since it is my birthday, I figured I would give myself a present and see if I could catch a good'un

Nancy hit the board first with this beautiful silvery trout caught on a tourist rig and a curly tail grub.

I missed, then slammed this nice overslept slob red on a Zman Trout Trick slowly crawling it on the bottom.  It was quite a battle, but Nancy performed excellent net and this bad boy got his picture taken before sliding back into his home waters.

We fished a little more and tried a couple of exploratory drops, but to no avail.

Headed back in to enjoy my birthday rum and coke!

Two Bites, Two Nice Reds, Two Happy Fishermen

1.30.16

Water Temp 52 degrees

Enjoying what we hope is the beginning of spring Hunter and I headed out on the incoming tide to see what we could find.

It took a little while, but at dead slack high tide I got two bites and both came to the boat.

Two nice overslept reds crushed my new Zman Diesel Minnowz slowly cranked on or near the bottom in 15 feet of water.

The first one crushed the bait and put on a show as he fought back and forth before we could boat him.

It was probably the prettiest red I have ever caught.

I didn't have to wait long for the next fish as he inhaled the diesel minnowz as I slowly reeled it from the bottom.

I have video showing this fish being caught, but I had to take frame shots because the language in the video was NSFW.

As the tide started rolling out we couldn't get another bite.

But two bites like this in winter is a good day!

New Year First Trip

water temp 55 degrees

Taking advantage of the weather in the high 60's we took the Seacraft out for a spin.

It still ran thankfully.  We haven't put many hours on it since moving to SC.

I wanted to put the Lowrance Side Scan to use in a couple of creeks to see if I could find some more downed trees or any other structure.  After graphing and fishing some nearby creeks we headed to our red hole behind our the house looking to salvage the day with a bite or two.

We only got one. He took a mud minnow on the bottom.  After guiding it through the sunken tree, the  red came home with us.

Beautiful afternoon on the water!

Never Give Up On Christmas Eve 2015

water temp 67 degrees

Like everywhere else the temperature was banging the mid 70's as Hunter and I eased out onto Whale Branch to try and find some new fishing holes.

We fished for a few hours with nary a nibble.
I finally eased the boat into the creek behind the house to try one last stretch of timber as the sun set.

I hammered one nice keeper red on the ol' white gulp shrimp.

One small trout was soon brought over the side of the boat.

Then after calling out last cast of the day Hunter went on point and scored.

What a hookset!

Never Give Up!

First Redfish At New Place

12.20.15

Water temp high 50's

Hunter and I made a trip out today enjoying the nice weather.

I felt like dog poo, but would rather feel like dog poo on the water than in the house.

I was rewarded with a nice slot red that liked the ol' white gulp shrimp on a jig head in a creek behind our new residence.

We left the creek after the tide got running pretty good and tried for trout.

We caught 6 on mud minnows and the trout trick, but all were too small to keep.

Proceeding to scout out new redfish locations, we headed to the other side of the Broad River and jumped a big red, but no other hook ups occurred.

Headed  back in with one taco  destined redfish.

Pictures Taken By The Polaroid Cube, Little Trout Everywhere

12.12.15

water temp 63 degrees

We headed out on a warm December day the thermometer flirted with a high of 75 degrees.

Banging some creek mouths near the Broad River we managed about 20 trout, but they were all little peanuts.

We even caught two at once.

I was slow rolling the Zman again.

Nancy was proud because she caught 8 trout on the ol' tourist rig.

We played with my new toy, the Polaroid Cube.

All of these pics were taken with it.  Cool little action camera that measures an 1.5" by 1.5".
