Hot Water, Hot Temps, Hot Early Bite

6.26.18

Hot water and hot temps this morn.  86 degree water

Mikey Jr. does it again pulling 3 in before my fishing partner from NC even got his rods untangled.

He caught one on a buzzer.  Rotated points and could only scrounge up 2 more.  One on Mikey and one on a ned rig.

Fished til 9 and headed to the house.

Decent topwater for a hot day.

Good Hot Summer Morning On Keowee

6.19.18

Hot early morning 72 degree

Hot water 85-86 degrees

Nancy and I got up and out to the lake at 5:45 and fished until 9.

It was hot early and kept getting hotter, but a breeze started coming down the lake from Jocassee to help out a little later in the morning.

We did good while catching 8 spots and one channel catfish today.

They have been munching the Mikey Jr. by Jackall real well and today was no exception as I caught 6  spots burning it across points around Mile Creek.

I bagged one nice 19" spot that was beat up pretty good but still wanting to eat.

Nancy got on board while slow rolling the Keitech swim bait.

I managed to worm up a 17" spot in the Zman Hula Stick and also the catfish.

It was a pretty good morning in spite of the heat.

Whew, That Slowed Down Fast

5.2.18

Water temp high 60's to 70

Cool temps have hit us, but mild days later and the fishing has slowed.

Seems like I can get one nice fish like this every trip, but putting together more than one is difficult.

The topwater bite has slowed to nothing for me.

Leading up to the Keowee Anglers tournament, I established nothing, a bite on a ned rig, a bite on a drop shot, a bite on a crank bait.

Just junking it up.

This is a nice drop shot fish, caught on a zoom sand worm.

Only caught two fish in the little 4 hour tourney.

We will see what happens later this month.
